Tuinkamer Projects
Tuinkamer Projects is a monthly expo series held in the titular Tuinkamer of De Kurk.
Over the course of 2026, creatives from our community will be showcasing their work and process with the Tuinkamer Projects - from textile to metal, photography to poetry, this is a platform to show and share in each others creative worlds.
Alongside many of the shows are workshops and events to join and enjoy. Collage making, porn writing, live drawing and pop-up shops are all on the agenda.

Quiet Reassurance

Photographs meet found materials. This is a documentation and a material-research combined.
These photographs have been shot all over Arnhem over the past three years. I take walks regularly to ground myself, to find reassurance and connection with my surroundings. The photographs are selected and printed. Then edited by hand, I sew secondhand threads through the paper, paint on them or add other scrap materials I find on the streets or in thrift stores. I add these materials to strengthen the feeling of the photograph, or to add ‘new’ emotions. The added materials are transformed and their story now woven in another. And thus creating something new.
My inspiration comes from my surroundings. I look for nostalgia, tenderness and the magic in the small, simple, daily stuff. How people behave, the routines they have and the normality of it all, I find very peculiar. The play between light and shadow continues to inspire me, always. I slow down when I take pictures, it grounds me in this fast paced world. I hope to inspire the viewer to do the same, to slow down and find some magic in the stillness, and perhaps some quiet reassurance, if needed.
Every Day I Stain Myself

One motif repeated over itself. ‘Every Day I Stain Myself’ is a series of drawings and paintings beholden to that exact process. These repetitions are stains, shadows, reflections, windows or other entities altogether. Both abstract and representational, automatic and intentional, while making them I wonder how we change by existing as ourselves every day.

Silent Dogs Bite II continues from part I, but buries it beneath the skin. What begins as silence between two people settles into nerves, teeth, bones, and the spaces we inhabit. Dogs no longer guard our experiences aggressively; they sleep inside cavities with one eye open, appear in unexpected reflections, and linger in forgotten corners. These new works trace how decay becomes strangely inhabitable long before the discomfort can be named.

Celestial Bodies

‘In my recent collages, I place bodies in space, where identity becomes fluid rather than confined by gender, representation or power. Responding to the male gaze, I question who looks and who is seen. Through fragmented bodies, textures and extraterrestrial elements, the body emerges not as an object but as a universe of its own. Using collage as appropriation, I reclaim the body as belonging to itself. Space becomes a metaphor for queer and other liminal spaces where new forms of visibility, autonomy and belonging can emerge.’
